  1. Waterproof rating

The most important feature of waterproof socks are their amazing waterproof ability.  Waterproof Socks are made with 3 elements: a knit exterior sock, a waterproof membrane, and a knit interior sock.  Because the outer and inner socks must be thick enough to protect the waterproof membrane from abrasion, you will find waterproof socks to be thicker than your average athletic socks. Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof socks are waterproof from the toe to just below the top of the cuff of the sock.  Their waterproof abilities are similar to rain boot keeping your feet dry from the bottom up.  To keep your feet dry, make sure to cover the tops of your socks with a waterproof layer (rain pants) during heavy rain or extended activities in light rain.

 How waterproof socks work

  1. Breathability rating

The Artex Membrane is an ultra-thin PTFE Waterproof Breathable Membrane whose molecular structure allows the membrane to stretch while the pores of the membrane do not. This provides a reliable level of waterproof and breathable protection so your feet don’t overheat during athletic activities.

Crosspoint Waterproof Socks come with Merino Wool lining or Coolmax lining

  1. Ergonomic Fit

Unlike our competitors, our waterproof membrane is seamless and is formed in the shape of 3-D foot not a flat plywood foot shape.  This offers a better fit and feel with no seam-like ridge on the socks.  After the three layers of the sock are bonded together, each sock is pressure tested to ensure it has no leaks.  A wide toe box and padded toe and heel provide excellent cushioning and durability.

  1. Material composition

We use a Nylon blend on the outside of our waterproof socks for durability and because Nylon does not absorb water the way other fibers do.  We offer two types of fiber blends for the inner socks: a Coolmax blend or a Merino Wool blend.  The Wool blend is a good choice if you want that extra bit of warmth.  Coolmax offers a slightly lighter weight moisture wicking anti-bacterial lining.

Waterproof Socks multi-sport options

  1. Lightweight vs heavyweight

Our Crosspoint waterproof socks are best for Hiking, Outdoor Work, Winter Sports and can be used with shoes that accommodate thicker socks.  Our Lightweight Waterproof Socks are best for running, cycling, golf, and other sports where a lower profile shoe is used.  Both types of waterproof socks have reinforced toe and heel for durability and comfort.

What real customers have to say about waterproof socks is a pretty important factor to consider.

"Waterproof Wonder

Winter biking and trail-running in western OR is a wet muddy business. The Crosspoint Waterproof Wool Crew Socks have made these activities so much more fun now that my toes stay warm and dry. I bought another pair for my husband and we used them on a recent snowshoeing trip in Bend - they were fantastic! I highly recommend you grab a pair."
